Our Story

We are a mother-daughter duo based in India and Belgium, and Indikon is the manifestation of our love for textiles. It is a reflection of our lives lived between different cultures, and of how these have inspired us.

Culminating over several years of scouting, travelling, and handpicking intricate designs from around the world, Indikon is our ode to the old-world charm of creating something by hand - with passion, mindfulness, and care.

What we do

Indikon explores the delicate intricacies of communities, artisans, and traditions from around the world, using textiles as a canvas to weave timeless tales.

Telling the untold stories of the artisans and their craft, Indikon is a curation of tales of art and craftsmanship. It is a modern take on ancient relationships, combining designs that are traditionally part of one culture with craft techniques of another. Our first edition encapsulates and blends Indian craft techniques with Greek aesthetics.

The meaning of Indikon

One of the oldest dyes used for colouring and printing textiles, indigo has connected and inspired artisans since antiquity. India being the primary supplier of indigo to Europe, the ancient Greeks referred to it as "Indikon", literally meaning "from India".

As far as history goes, people have been exchanging ideas and trading their goods across the globe. Indikon celebrates this ancient relationship between cultures and traditions, harmoniously bringing together different parts of our world.
